the recordings for the wires cracked were completed in a frenzied two week period in october of 2012. i had mentioned in discussing a previous albums construction that i prefer to forget how i build any particular electro-acoustic amalgam. this is so that i dont get to precious with them, so that i could refine them further, so that the sounds themselves speak beyond their aggregate parts. with the album being relatively fresh in my mind, i can still recall various components to the wires cracked -- the desolate howl of a metal screen activated by a desert wind, the hissing air compression from the cooling apparatus for a laser at the slac national accelerator laboratory operated by stanford university, and the tremolo rhythms from a thin wire that still get me thinking fondly of günter schickert -- but much of the caustic drone, thrumming reverberation, and tactile grit thoroughly escapes me. that is probably for the best, since these various parts speak to an existential rupturing, the collapse of the self, the aftershocks of dark energy, and a belief in the hope for renewal. we never forget our roots here at idle hands. for people of a certain age the wild experiments of jungle and dnb remain close to our hearts. whilst scenes, sounds and trends may wax and wane that visceral feeling of chest rattling bass is something we hold on to. rhythmic theory is one producer who like us, never forgot. here we present two tunes deeply indebted to those times. it must be stated though, you will not find any amen breaks or ragga samples here, instead, this up and coming bristol producer transposes the atmospheres and deadly subs to a techno template. *legacy of the lost* and *riveted* follow on from two well received vinyl only release on brstl and his own self titled label. both tracks are immaculately crafted hardware jams that are designed solely with sound system use in mind.

blue hawaii, arbutus records and many of their montreal counterparts all began with the same breath in early 2010. to date blue hawaii has released an 8 song ep: in may of that year, blooming summer (arbutus records 2010) was recorded following the pairs travels in central america. it frames a time of warmth and novelty, featuring dense female harmonies, tape saturated synths, guitars and drum machines. eventually ra- returned to her role in braids, touring constantly, while ag– moved to europe, treading deeper into dance music, electronics, and production. the two decided to make untogether in 2012, they began recording on new years day in vancouver and intermittently worked on the project until summer broke in montreal. the music followed their winter in canada, it became colder, more introspective. it again captured a time and place, but instead of a dense saturation of love and excitement, this record reflects the vast world of self-awareness and delicacy.

in their own words, like a radio-controlled mechanical, electro-mechanical and multifunctional musical instrument, berliner ring build up relentless and relentlessly different grooves in a characteristically non-direct way. as if playing around without focus they layer their tracks and slowly position them into form. the tracks featured here were originally released on cd on the art yard label. melodies are fragmented, often even sparse, the groove never stops, but does so with intervals and while changing focus. berliner ring references similar bands in the krautrock and post-rock genre, but it s subtlety, the originality of their self-built instruments and their songs that shift from downright groovy to more atmospheric explorations of ambience and texture guarantee them a unique voice and perspective. essential stuff.

another piece of swissness here! long anticipated and finally here. animal trainers new ep for their very own piece of gold: hive audio. sure they were also featured on the 6 years hive compilation, made several quality remixes & released on labels such as pokerflat or stil vor talent, but its still special to present your music on the self-made label. besides 3 originals there is another very talented producer to find on this record. &me delivers like everytime. it looks like he started where the 2 guys from zurich finished. a lot of energy which comes together in a very strong beat which makes this one a dancefloor-thing for sure.

the earlier works of the hungarian dj/producer duo called savages y suefo came out on urbanworld records. now, they continue their mission at agogo records with a nice 6 tracker vinyl 12 inch. side a contains three own tracks with guest vocalists like judie jay and mc guacho. on the flip side you can find a self remix and two remixes from rube and renegades of jazz. the 12 inch is a melting pot of swing-hop, electro-swing, downtempo, dub and latin music.
